If all sentient life suffers an unrecoverable catastrophe, we lose not only all existing lives but the entire arc of our vast potential future. We believe this risk can be meaningfully reduced through deliberate action.

However, our intention is not only to preserve what exists, but also to help guide humanity toward a radically better future. We aim to maximize the upside, not just minimize the downside.

We take especially seriously the possibility of artificial intelligence becoming vastly smarter than humans in the near-term future. This directly shapes our strategy, and motivates our willingness to take seemingly “weird” ideas and projects seriously. Our priority is to ensure that humanity retains meaningful agency, while co-existing and collaborating with advanced AI systems.

To that end, we fund impactful projects that aim to mitigate global risks, as well as safely accelerate moral and technological progress during this crucial moment in our history.
